Chapter 5

  • What makes McDonald's french fries taste different from the fries of other fast food restaurants?

What makes McDonald's french fries taste different from other fries is that McDonalds made crisp french fries by making them in special friers to keep the oil temperature above 325 degrees.

Who is J.R. Simplot? What connection does J. R. Simplot have to the fast food industry?

J.R Simplot is America's great potato baron, the man who built an empire based on french fries. What he has to do with the fast food industry is that he created the french fry empire and french fries are sold in just about every fast food joint. He also got a team of scientists together to create the frozen french fry. He then sold the frozen french fries to McDonalds which quickly spread to other fast food chains.
